The Call Of The Front Porch

True story….I was ready to rent this house the first time I laid eyes on the front porch.

I think you can see why.   Come on up, the drinks are always cold…and always free!

Fluttering flags…

…and a lovely antique potato wagon bursting with blooms.

The perfect space to celebrate life…

…and show off newly discovered skills. ( I made this wreath myself, not perfect…but what is in life.)

Could you imagine a better spot to relax and ponder good literature?

  1. So inviting! I love a porch and miss the one I had at my previous house more than I thought I would. Loved to decorate for every holiday, so much fun. Now I have a deck in the back, but it’s not the same as a porch. Your photos are beautiful as always and love seeing the little one with a book. Thank-you for a lovely post.

  2. I LOVE front porches! It speaks of a bygone era that would take time to stop and chat with a neighbor on their front porch; it encourages community and family and relaxation and just enjoying God’s creation and His man blessings.

Thank you so much for sharing your front porch with us! 🙂

  3. Hi Amy,
A front porch has always said “Home” to me! It is a welcoming facade which beckons us to a friendly place on which to chat and sip tea or lemonade. My first home was my grandparents’ home. It had a big ole porch where the family and neighbours congregated and on which peas were shelled and corn shucked. It was a wonderful place where a little girl could play safely out of doors while watching all the goings on in the neighbourhood. I have never forgotten it nor the memories made there. A front porch always warms my heart and you’re blessed to have one. I’m sure your little one will make herself many memories there too. Thank you for sharing and for the memories.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

    1. I have always wanted a house with a front porch. This house has been such a blessing. We have fallen in love with this “small town” neighborhood within a large city.

  4. Oh I so wish we had a big covered front porch! No room on what we do have to even put a chair 😦 Can’t complain too much though, we have a lovely big back deck but there is just something about front porches that are so awesome!

    1. Pretty sure the green is original to the house. I love how the porch ceiling is painted blue to frighten away bad spirits….according to my southern neighbor.

  6. Nothing like sitting out on a front porch! That was one of my stipulations when we moved. Our new home had to have a porch. Yours is a real beauty! No wonder your little one likes to sit out there and read. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  7. What a perfect porch! This is exactly what I think of when I think about a cozy front porch. You’ve done a great job decorating it, too. Thanks so much for visiting Inspiration Thursday!

    1. Happy to hear that. Annapolis is a pretty balanced mix of North and South…I am from the North but love my porch and smocked dresses for the Princess…must be the Southern influence!

  10. Your front porch is amazing!! We only have a little deck out front, the plan is to someday add a bigger one. I would be doing a lot of front porch sittin if I had your porch 🙂

    1. This was the first night that it was actually to hot this evening to sit on the porch after dinner. After such a chilly Spring we finally got our wish for summer weather…and dreaming of fall weather.
