Early in our marriage my hero and I agreed that we would not place a television in our bedroom. We hoped the room would be a private refuge from the world and a place of peace and harmony. We have done a pretty good job keeping our agreement. It is the only room in the house, outside of Saturday morning snuggles, that is Princess free which means we are free to display glass…without constant worry. Come on in…
One of my favorites collections…quilts! I think they lend a cozy element to any room.
The perfect place to curl up and read. A little patriotic touch with the pillows…plus a nod to my half British hero. Isn’t the antique Tibetan Cabinet beautiful?
Probably my most favorite furniture piece in the house is this antique Chinese Chicken coop…completely cleaned and restored as a wardrobe.
Before we had a Princess room, we had a guest room. It was decorated lovingly with English Victorian furniture and antique perfume bottles…not the safest element in a toddler’s bedroom. It makes a crowded but lovely display…safely away from busy little fingers.
When my hero and I were dating we were delighted to discover our mutual love of glassware. This is a small sample of our merged collections…and a few recent purchases. I love the afternoon light through this window. It has often stopped me in my tracks with the beauty.
My Princess and her beloved Baba…they also stop me in my tracks with their beauty. Happy Father’s Day!

A very lovely post from beginning to end! I also have always loved glassware, even as a child. My maternal Gram had these beautiful antique beveled glass cabinets everywhere- full of teacups, carnival glass, and delicate hand blown glass items among other glassware. I would often sit and listen as she told the stories of each item. Thus a collector was born. I especially love glass baskets and I love the ones you have displayed. The antique Chinese chicken coop is beyond words beautiful. Most beautiful is your Princess with her Baba! Thank-you for sharing your wonderful treasures.

Dear Amy:
What wonderful style you have – eclectic and fun. I love your glassware collection and the fact that when you were dating you discovered you both love it. It is wonderful who to have a husband that loves something you do and and you can shared “the hunt” together. Thanks for sharing and linking your lovely home.

I love your room so much! And I completely agree with you about not having a TV in a bedroom. I never have, and I never will. But my room is nothing as amazing as yours. I’m in awe.

Enjoy these moments, attitudes and all. Sometimes it is hard, but they grow up way too fast. Like the song says, you’re gonna miss this. Our baby girl turns 21 this Sunday. Believe me, toddler tantrums beat an empty nest any day. Have a blessed week. 🙂

Adorable photos and what a cutie pie in the photos. Loved the bedroom so much! I really must do something with mine. I don’t think I should choose a paint color until I play around with some decor for a month or so. I have been so busy parenting that the upstairs in simply dreadful. you photos have really inspired me. Thank you.

I know what you mean. We are renting right now so painting would be a costly endeavor if we needed to restore the original color…I can’t wait to have my own house again. The military life is adventurous but putting down roots will be great.

That truly is a sanctuary and cuddle spot. Good for you for not ever putting in a TV. As always, gorgeous pieces. I don’t know how the chinese chicken coop would work but it is hard to imagine anything that beautiful being used to house animals~

I love your bedroom and all the quilts, red and white are one of my favorite combos. The striking pillows of both American and British flags and wonderful . . . I can not stand cookie cutter decor and you certainly don’t go in that direction 🙂 Bravo, your style is brilliant!
One last comment, ” Chicken coop” Oh, my goodness!
I’m still in shock . . . Chicken coop 🙂
You have created a beautiful home and a charming blog.
