Cozy in Annapolis

The world seems to simmer down after the glitz of the holidays.  My thoughts turn to cozy days with family, contemplating my New Year’s resolutions (how is that going for you?) and finding ways to bring a more simple decorating touch to my home, hopefully more minimal than austere.

I find bringing outside elements inside, using darker tones and bumping up the cozy factor helps make the often dreary days of January more bearable.  Come in and enjoy some tea with me!

Greenery and berries in a wooden dough bowl is an easy way to bring in the outside. Snow pillows await a good, snuggly snow day.

Vintage suitcase stacked on an early Arts and Crafts era chair are the perfect tones for winter decor. The vintage autograph album was a find on my honeymoon in Maine!

Adding berries and pine cones to a table in the foyer provide a simple pop of color.  The folk art rug is from Poland.  I love the graphics.

And does anything say cozy more than a herd of woolly sheep?

The Princess is enjoying cozy, inside activities…let’s hope she still delights in washing dishes in about ten years.

  1. The snow pillows are beautiful. Love that wooden dough bowl and with the addition of greenery and berries is perfect for winter decor. Those woolly sheep are sweet. Your home looks very cozy with some of your treasures lovingly displayed. The Princess seems to be enjoying kitchen duties now, but adorable as she is don’t count on this in ten years! Thank-you for a lovely post and the precious photo of The Princess.

    1. We will try and enjoy her helpful attitude now because it seems to vanish for most around 13…so I was told. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I always enjoy your comments…they encourage me so much.

  2. It certainly does feel cozy! I love vintage suitcases and your stack is wonderful! I have some stacked on top of our entertainment center. I also have my vintage aqua bottles on my bottle stand on our kitchen table. And I have a sheep theme on our basement family room mantle. We love many of the same things. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. Thanks for stopping by! I love the way the suitcases just bring that vintage feel to the room. My husband thought I was nuts to buy them but he has come around. I hope to see you again!

  3. First time visitor! Your home looks like a cozy, happy place to be. I love the vintage suitcases. I was on a recent antique expedition and found many that I liked. I wish I had my mom and dad’s old brown Samsonite set!

    1. My husband thought I was nuts to buy the suitcases. They spent some time in storage until we found just the right house. This 1920 house is the perfect place. Military life keeps you on the move so I really hope this is our permanent home. Thanks for stopping by…I so enjoy the Simple, quiet beauty of your blog.

    1. The sheep are a favorite of mine as well, I bought them in Poland but they do pop up on EBay and Etsy every so often. Thanks for stopping by, your blog party is always fun!

  5. Hi, stopping by from Monday Social – Let’s Add Sprinkles. That name, Cozy in Annapolis brought me here, well, your pretty picture too. I was in Annapolis, MD like a month ago, such a beautiful city, just as cozy as your home. Love the suitcases, the cute sheep, and of course your daughter’s beautiful pic.

    1. We live right downtown, stop on by next time. Annapolis is a lovely city and we could not be happier. My husband is on staff at the Naval Academy! He is also retiring this summer. We hope to stay right here.

    1. I love color in my home. I admire all the white on white on some home blogs but I think it would make me nervous to live there. Thank you for your kind comments and I am glad you enjoyed my home!
