Irish Green

What a glorious taste of Spring we had this week…and a wind storm to blow winter right back into us. I guess March is suppose to do that, all that “in like a Lion and out like a Lamb” stuff we learned in school. March has me dreaming of Spring flowers and lovely days outside with the possibility of snow in the back of my mind. How to decorate?…that is a good question. It’s a little early for lambs, bunnies and chicks in my opinion but a little late for full-on winter cozy. Thank goodness we have a full holiday right in the middle of the month. Time to get our St. Patrick’s Day decor on! Even if, like me, you have nary a drop of Irish blood in you!

A simple mantel display of green depression glass will easily transition to early Spring as the month draws to a more “lamb-like” close.

The Doric and Pansy found on these teacups is my most favorite depression glass pattern

Vintage St. Patrick’s Day postcards add a touch of whimsy to an old window frame

Shhhhhh…I have spotted a leprechaun caught in a glass jar…I hope he doesn’t escape.

Also spotted…our art loving lucky little Princess who loves magic and rainbows, just like a real leprechaun!

  1. A lovely shade of green on your equally lovely Depression glass teacups and saucers, love the pattern too. The vintage post cards are so cute on the old window frame, very clever idea. Hope that wee leprechaun doesn’t escape from that jar. The most beautiful of leprechauns is without a doubt,The Princess! Thank-you!

  2. I love your window frame. I can’t wait until the weather is well enough to go dig out one of mine buried upstairs in the attic of my garage. Time to use some of my ‘junque’ and that’s such a great idea!

  3. I love your green glass and the vintage postcards displayed in the window. Very clever! I’m looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day. The Princess gets cuter all the time.

    1. Cuter and sassier…but I guess that adds to the cuteness. I love old postcards. I especially love the ones with messages. It’s like a little glimpse into the past.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such pretty green depression glass. I can see why it’s your favorite. Love what you did with the window – very cheery and just the right amount of vintage. Funny, I’m 100% Irish and I don;t decorate for St. Patty’s Day! Love to see everyone else’s though! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
