It’s still Fall to Me

Halloween is over…so that means…Christmas? No, not yet in my home. We are clinging to the unique beauty and warmth of Fall as long as we can. I mean, poor Thanksgiving just gets lost in the glitz and glimmer of the “more important” holiday found a full month later. Fall still reigns supreme in my house.

Juicy handpicked apples in an antique dough bowl.

Dried Indian corn in a glass candy display.

A throw with gorgeous fall colors on a vintage ladder chair adds a simple touch of the season.

Beautiful Afternoon Fall light makes vintage seltzer bottles glow.

Nothing says Fall more than a grinning Minnie Mouse ready for an evening of trick or treating!

  1. Don’t start my Christmas decor till after Thanksgiving.Like to put away my fall decorations on black Friday and then do some serious cleaning giving me a clean slate for Christmas. When the children were little I put out one Christmas decoration and they had to find it when they got home from school. Such fun . Now they have children of their own and their own traditions. Also must say I love to enjoy every moment of autumn..We all need to slow down a little.

    1. What a fun Tradition. We always cut down a tree the day after thanksgiving when I was growing up. I love seeing Christmas through my little girls eyes but really want her to enjoy a simpler holiday rather than the flash of the world around us. Enjoy these last few magical weeks of fall.

  2. So happy to read of someone still hanging on to Fall. Thanksgiving is the important holiday in my family, because it IS about family and gathering together. I hang on to every second of Fall and the leaves on the ground and the clean no-humidity air and the bright red of the apples and the bright yellow of the mums. So much to enjoy before the Christmas holiday hits with its hectic pace and holly jolly expectations. I’m in no hurry.

  3. I think that is the cutest picture of your little one yet! I’m with you, I like holding on to all as long as possible (but we got snow already, sheesh!). Love all your fall touches. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen|Our Hopeful Home
