Sweet Sweet Summer

August! The endless summer is flying by. So relaxed, so much freedom to make my own schedule, fireflies, evenings at the pool…and then, I saw shelves and shelves of Something that made me catch my breath and reality crept in slowly. The summer is not endless…there were school supplies right in front of me. I’m not ready to let the Princess go off to First Grade, and as much as I love my job, I’m not ready to pop on that teacher’s hat. I need August to be Summer…sweet, lazy, dreamy Summer. Enjoy the summer touches in my home…and try to ignore the Back to School crazy. At least for a few weeks!

Sweet Gerber Daisies in French lemonade bottles…sprayed with sea glass paint!

Flowers on our front door make me smile every time I come home.

Waiting for the happy sunflowers…these paper ones work in the meantime.

A bench filled was Summer…perfect for lazy afternoon reading.

A joy of Summer…discounted matinee showings with the Princess…no popcorn for her…she’s a candy girl.

  1. Welcome new beginnings with a new school year, but good bye summer. I have mixed emotions every year. This is my last back to school year ever. Yes, I am tearing up.
I hope to meet you in October when I am in Annapolis.
    Have a blessed school year,
    Kippi

    1. Fall is beautiful in Annapolis…and my neighborhood is the most beautiful. I’m feeling a knot in my stomach as time seems to be flying by much too fast.

  2. Amy, I can’t believe that sweetie is headed to first grade! I taught first grade the last ten years of my teaching career.Wonderful year and age!!! I didn’t realize you were a teacher. What do you teach?
    Enjoy the rest of summer!

    1. Seems like I blinked and there she stood in her uniform. I teach preschool at her school. We have the same hours and I love seeing her each day. I was a teacher for the Department of Defense for almost 20 years when I met my husband in Japan. I’m trying to enjoy every bit of August!

  3. I’m with you—Spring was so cold and crappy—we just got summer over the 4th…but school starts here in the suburbs next week…crazy! So let the sunflowers reign and hope no pumpkins show up for a month. Our plants are just now blossoming, I doubt we will have pumpkins or squash this year!

    1. We do have until September this year for school, but summer is still flying by so quickly. I spotted some tiny pumpkin in the garden this morning…Fall is coming
